Connecting Kids with Nutritious & Delicious Meals When School's Out
Open to Children and Teens (ages 18 & under).
This summer, San Diego Unified schools, parks & recreation centers, libraries, military sites, and other neighborhood organizations are turning into meal and nutrition hubs, offering free breakfast and lunch to children and teens in the community.
The Summer Meal Program kicks off June 4 and continues through August 1. Meal site locations are open Monday through Friday; times and locations vary. In addition to nourishing meals, some locations will offer nutrition education resources, reading activities for children to help our San Diego youth stay active and thriving.
A full list of locations and service times will be updated soon.
Holiday Closures:
- June 19, 20 & July 4 - All San Diego Unified schools and military sites will be closed, except for Miramar (open June 20).
- June 19 & July 4 - All parks & recreation centers as well as libraries will be closed.
- July 4 - Community centers will be closed; except for Sherman Heights (site will be closed June 19).
Stopping by a summer meal site with your family not only saves you time and money spent grocery shopping & meal prepping; it also helps support our schools and community.

SUN Bucks (Summer EBT)
California’s Summer EBT program, known as SUN Bucks, is returning in 2025. Families will get $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. SUN Bucks will not affect immigration status.
Make sure your mailing address is current with your school and with the county, so your SUN Bucks are sent to the right place! Most families will begin receiving their 2025 SUN Bucks cards in mid-June through August.
