2025 Dependent Eligibility Audit

San Diego Unified is a member district of the California Schools Voluntary Employee Benefits Association (VEBA). VEBA is conducting a mandatory audit of our group health plan through Risk Program Administrators (RPA).  The purpose of this independent audit is to determine that currently enrolled dependents (spouse, domestic partners and children) continue to meet eligibility requirements for coverage.  This is a very common practice for employer-sponsored group health plans. Your privacy is secure since VEBA already holds your healthcare enrollment information.

If you have dependents currently enrolled on our health plan, you will receive information via U.S. Mail from Risk Program Administrators (RPA) starting the first week of March 2025. Information will be mailed to the address on file with the district. Documents required to verify dependents, directions for submitting them, and audit deadlines are in the information being mailed.  If you verified a biological/adopted child during the previous audit in 2020, you will not need to provide verification documents for that same dependent during this audit.

Participation by the District and each employee/retiree covering dependents on medical and/or dental insurance is mandatory. Please be prepared to fulfill your obligation for verifying your dependent's eligibility by the audit deadline. Failure to respond to the request for documentation , OR if dependents are found to be ineligible, will result in those dependents being dropped from district health insurance.

Thank you for supporting this process and our efforts to contain healthcare costs and meet our federal tax obligations. View our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more information.
