Amanda Cutler graduated from the University At Buffalo with a double major in Psychology and Communications with a minor in Studio Art.  After graduating from UB she moved to California for some much needed warm weather.  What was supposed to be one year in Sunny SoCal turned into eight years.  In 2016, she graduated from  Point Loma Nazarene University with a Master of Art in Education with a focus in School Counseling and Pupil Personnel Credential.

In January of 2016, Ms. Cutler started her work with San Diego Unified School District as an At-Risk Counselor at University City High School.  As an At-Risk Counselor, Ms. Cutler helped close the achievement gap by implementing Student Support Teams, doing classroom observations, and doing individual counseling with students to help them plan their academic roadmaps.

In August of 2016, Ms. Cutler started her work as a School Counselor at Walker Elementary School where she worked for 3 years.  During this time, Ms. Cutler started programs such as Restorative Circles, Project Roots with the DA’s office, and continued with programs such as Second Step, ASB, and Read Across America.  During her time at Walker Elementary School she also created partnerships with Christ Community Church and worked each year to provide holiday gifts to over 100 families.  During her first year as a School Counselor, Ms. Cutler won Runner Up for Rookie Counselor of the Year for SDUSD.

In July 2019, Ms. Cutler was approached by the Restorative Justice Team to create curriculum for Elementary Schools.  After meeting with Dr. Ferrer and discussing the work she did at Walker Elementary School around Restorative Justice she was asked to join the team.  In August of 2019, Ms. Cutler joined the Restorative Justice team part time and joined the Porter Elementary School family part time.  During the 2019-2020 school year, Ms. Cutler created a curriculum using Second Step and Restorative Justice practices.  Each Second Step lesson is followed with a Restorative Circle to further embed the teaching. She also co-created curriculum for Youth Training for all grade levels and implemented the curriculum at Baker Elementary School and Clark Monroe Middle School.

Ms. Cutler continues her work with the Restorative Justice Department and Porter Elementary School.  She has a passion for the work and the effectiveness of the programs.

Ms. Cutler has a supportive husband and in May 2020 had her first child, a beautiful boy named Kai.
